Precautions: Cold pressed lime essential oil can be phototoxic causing damage to the skin. Dilute lime essential oil with a carrier oil like almond, olive or coconut before applying to the skin and avoid exposure to sunlight for at least 12 hours after application. Steam distilled lime essential oil is not phototoxic. It can be diluted with a carrier oil or added to your body lotions and hand creams without being concerned about exposure to sunlight.

How to use Lime Essential Oil?

  • To use for Cleaning – Add 1/4 cup of vinegar, 15 drops of lime essential oil and 15 drops of either lavender, lemon, eucalyptus or tea tree oil (choose your favourite!) to a spray bottle. Fill the bottle with water. Use as a general cleaning spray on surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom.
  • Lime Essential Oil For Colds – Smell the oil straight from the bottle or add a few drops to a handkerchief or cotton ball and inhale. You can also use a personal inhaler to have with you during the day or an aromatherapy diffuser to disperse the oil into a room or space.
  • Benefits for Skin and Acne– Dilute 6 drops of lime essential oil with 10ml of jojoba oil or coconut oil. Apply to clean skin at night before bedtime.
  • Boost Energy – Diffuse lime essential oil into your room or smell straight from the bottle. Or you could use a personal inhaler or aromatherapy pendant and inhale the fresh zesty scent as needed!
  • Clear the Mind – Diffuse lime essential oil into your workspace or room. The fresh lime scent may help you gain a clearer perspective on a situation and find a creative solution.
  • Lime Essential Oil Body Scrub – To make an invigorating body scrub combine 1/4 cup of sweet almond or melted coconut oil, 1 cup of sugar and 10 drops of lime essential oil. Stir until blended well. Can be stored in an airtight container.
